Terms of Service

Last updated 28 September 2026

These terms explain the rules for using Timo. We've tried to keep them readable. The short version: your calendar is yours, use Timo lawfully and respectfully, and understand that it's a tool we provide as-is — so don't rely on it as your only record of anything critical.

1. Agreement to these terms

Timo is a calendar service available on the web and on mobile, operated by the Timo team ("we", "us"). By creating an account or otherwise using Timo, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data. If you don't agree, please don't use Timo.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live requires a higher age to consent to an online service on your own. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
  • Give us accurate sign-up information and keep your email address current — we use it for verification, password recovery and important account notices.
  • You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for activity on your account. You can see and sign out your active sessions and devices from your profile. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been compromised.
  • If you sign in with Google or Apple, your use of those sign-in methods is also subject to their terms.
  • One person per account. Don't create accounts through automated means or on someone else's behalf without permission.

3. Your content

"Your content" means everything you put into Timo — calendars, events, titles, notes, locations, attendees, roles and similar information.

  • You own it. We don't claim ownership of your content.
  • You give us a limited licence to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to run Timo for you — for example syncing it across your devices, sending reminders and showing it to the people you choose to share it with. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for residual copies in backups that are overwritten in the ordinary course.
  • We don't sell your content, and we don't use it to advertise to you.
  • You're responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to put it into Timo — including any details about other people (such as attendees' names and email addresses).

4. Sharing and other people's content

Timo lets you connect with other people, share calendars with them at different permission levels (owner, admin, member, viewer), invite attendees and control per-event visibility with roles.

  • When you share a calendar or event, the people you share with can see — and, depending on the permission you grant, change or delete — that content. Choose permissions carefully; we can't undo actions taken by someone you've given edit access.
  • Content others share with you remains theirs. Respect their privacy: don't copy, republish or misuse it beyond what they'd reasonably expect.
  • If you leave a shared calendar, or its owner removes you or deletes it, you may lose access to events on it.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Timo to:

  • break any law, or help anyone else break one;
  • harass, threaten, stalk, or send spam or unwanted invitations or connection requests to other people;
  • post or share content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, sexually exploits minors, or infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy;
  • impersonate anyone or misrepresent your connection with a person or organisation;
  • access another person's account or data without permission, or probe, scan or test the security of Timo outside a responsible-disclosure arrangement with us;
  • interfere with or overload the service — including circumventing rate limits, scraping, or using bots or automated scripts other than through features we provide;
  • upload malware or anything designed to damage or gain unauthorised access to systems;
  • copy, resell or reverse-engineer Timo, except to the extent the law expressly allows despite this restriction.

Found a security issue? Please report it to legal@timocalendar.com rather than exploiting it.

6. Third-party services

Some features connect to services we don't control, such as importing from Google Calendar or signing in with Google or Apple. When you connect one, you authorise us to access the data needed for that feature (we request the narrowest permissions we can). Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren't responsible for their availability, accuracy or actions. You can disconnect them at any time.

7. Availability and changes to the service

  • Timo is under active development. We may add, change or remove features, and some features may be offered in early or beta form that is less reliable.
  • We aim to keep Timo running smoothly but can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. Reminders and notifications depend on your device, network and operating system settings and may be delayed or missed.
  • Don't rely on Timo as your only record of important appointments — medical, legal, travel or otherwise time-critical commitments should be kept somewhere else too.
  • Access may currently be limited to people invited from our waitlist. Timo is free to use today; if we introduce paid features, we'll tell you the price and terms before you're charged anything.

8. Suspension and termination

You can leave at any time. You can delete your account from your profile settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and the calendars you own; events you added to other people's calendars stay on those calendars. Deletion can't be undone.

We can suspend or close accounts if we reasonably believe you have seriously or repeatedly broken these terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or other users, if we're required to by law, or if an account has been inactive for an extended period. Where it's reasonable and lawful, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the issue or export your content. If we decide to shut Timo down entirely, we'll give you reasonable advance notice so you can retrieve your data.

Sections that by their nature should continue after termination — including your content licence wind-down, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and the general terms — will continue.

9. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, Timo is provided "as is" and "as available", and we exclude all warranties not expressly stated in these terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Your consumer rights. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have that can't lawfully be excluded — including the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law and equivalent consumer-protection laws where you live. Where the law lets us limit our liability for breaching such a guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunities — including losses from a missed appointment, a reminder that didn't arrive, or actions taken by people you shared content with;
  • our total liability to you for all claims relating to Timo is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or AUD $100.

These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs arising from a third-party claim caused by your content or your breach of these terms — except to the extent the loss was caused by our own fault. This doesn't apply if you're using Timo as a consumer in a place where such indemnities aren't enforceable.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Timo evolves or the law changes. The "last updated" date above shows when they last changed. For material changes, we'll give you notice by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect, unless a change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you keep using Timo after changes take effect, you accept the updated terms; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.

13. General

  • These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts there have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory laws, and the right to bring proceedings in the courts, of the place where you live.
  • If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect, and the unenforceable part is read down to the extent needed.
  • If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't waived it.
  • You can't transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, and will tell you if that happens.
  • These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Timo.
  • If you download Timo from the Apple App Store, the App Store's standard end-user licence terms also apply; Apple isn't responsible for Timo or its support.
